It seems my computer has bit the dust. I hope with my income tax return, I can afford another...I lost a couple of art projects, but most of my stuff is in online galleries so Im good on that front.....HP sucks....maybe a new computer will give me some inspiration to do more art again...

Um, details? If the hard drive failed, the stuff on it can be cloned to another drive. Put the drive in a sealed baggie, put it int he freezer for an hour or two. Once you reinstall the drive, use something called 'ghost' to clone the drive, to another newly formatted disk (most computers can run 2 HD's at a time). The cold tightens the bearings and/or any breaks on teh board, so you can use it for a while, hopefully long enough to get it all transferred.
hmmm I will have to get my fiances friend to look into it...he has the laptop right now. Im kinda due for a new one anyways...but if there is a way to save my files, that certainly would be awesome! thanks for the advice V :)

The trick works on hard drives and sometimes even laptops. Better to do it now, than when humidity picks up, though condensation usually isn't a problem, heat and friction is.

I bought a guy here a HD for his rig, took 3 weeks to get there! At first I thought it had arrived, but it arrived at a distribution point, not the actual delivery point! I don't think I'll ever deal with tigerdirect again. Worse part: I haven't heard from the guy for just over a month... GF was a secret nypmho, mother passed away a few months ago, had to move back home. *sigh*
